Get Involved

We
at the Livingston Theatre Company pride ourselves on being a completely student-run organization
that collectively produces four musicals each year. Indeed, all positions,
from actors to choreographers to producers, are filled by various undergraduate students from Rutgers University. Having said this, there are a
multitude of ways to get involved with the LTC and join the family.
Join a Crew

Work behind the scenes to make sure
that the shows go off without a hitch (at least from the audience's
perspective). This is a great way to get involved and find out more
about the LTC and theatre as a whole. Different crews include
backstage, construction, painting, wardrobe, and more. It is often the
dedication of the crew that sets the caliber of the performances. See
the
Tech Page for more information.
Audition

The most popular way to get involved...
act in a show! Since the LTC puts on only musicals, actors and actresses are
expected to be able to act and sing, and usually dance too!
Auditions happen once a semester, so be prepared. Find more
information about upcoming auditions on the
Audition
Page.
Play an Instrument

What's a musical without the music?
Musicians are integral to our shows. The orchestra. rehearses on its own
and with the actors and plays at all performances. The conductor of
the orchestra is also usually the musical director of the show and has worked with the cast
throughout. Apply
here to be a
musical director. If you play an instrument and would like to play in
a orchestra, please send an e-mail with your name, instrument(s), and
availability to
rultc@eden.rutgers.edu. Do you play the piano? The LTC is always
in need of talented accompanists for auditions and special events and to
play at rehearsals. If you're interested, please send an
e-mail to the above address.
Production Staff

Are you a natural leader?
Do you want to translate your creativity into art, either through costumes or set
changes, through lighting effects or sound cues? A show's production staff
the people responsible for artistic side of our company.

Join the Board

If the production staff's task is to
develop great musicals, it is the General Board's task to develop the LTC as
an organization. Some raise the money for materials and advertising. Some
sell out the box office with creative marketing. Others plan company-bonding
events, and still other maintain our historical archives and ties to our
alumni. Above all, the Gen. Board is the business end of the organization that
keeps everything ticking. If being the backbone of an organization
interests you, see our descriptions and fill out a General Board application
here.
Usher

An usher for the LTC
serves as a direct link between the company and the audience when they arrive at a performance. You will be an ambassador for the theatre as
well as a host/hostess to our patrons of the evening. A welcoming smile and
kind greeting can lift up the spirit of a patron as well as ease the layers
of tension a patron may have accumulated from a bad day. If we all act in a
kind and gentle manner then the patrons are also more likely to act in the
same manner, even if a problem arises. To adopt a southern phrase; you
attract more flies with sugar than with vinegar. E-mail
sushil@rultc.org to usher for a show.
